BERLIN.  Umedia International has boarded Madrid based Spanish animation studio Thinklab’s major family animation feature DEEP from a script by former Dreamworks writer-director story consultant Mike de Seve (Madagascar, Shrek 2 and 3 and Monsters vs Aliens) of Baboon Animation.  Peter Rogers’ sales division will bring the film to its first market at EFM with an exclusive sizzle reel for buyers, it was announced today by the company’s CEO Adrian Politowski.

In a deep-sea world of the future where humans have abandoned the earth and the oceans have risen, Deep, an adventurous octopus and the last of his kind lives with his two best friends Angler Fish Evo and neurotic shrimp Alice.  In the year 2100, they find themselves the only inhabitants left amongst a rag tag band of aquatic oddities swimming amongst the submerged buildings and detritus.  But when an earthquake destroys their home, Deep and his friends are forced on a perilous journey to find salvation, which takes them via Titanic and a fully submerged New York City.

Directed by Julio Soto, who created and directed the hit 3D animated TV series “Fluffs!” for Disney Channel, DEEP is produced by experienced programme maker Adriana Malfatti (Canal+, Disney), Jorge Bazaco, formerly of Ilion Animation Studios (Planet 51).  Character development is being managed by Spa Studios, the original story creators of Despicable Me, and the company’s owner Sergio Pablos who has designed characters for Disney’s Tarzan, Blue Sky’s Rio, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules.

DEEP is an hilarious feature animation that offers us a unique, comical look at the never before animated magical deep-sea world of amazing creatures that live in the world’s deepest ocean trenches,” says Peter Rogers of Umedia International.  “Julio’s extraordinary imagination has delivered a complete magical world
